Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Perella Weinberg Partners.
Investment Banking Analyst
I applied online and Dartmouth Partners arranged a 20-minute interview. They contacted me to set up the call, which was an even mix of behavioral and technical questions. The difficulty was medium, with some multi-step accounting questions.
- Have you received a return offer?
- In what ways have your summer experiences influenced your career aspirations for a full-time position?
Investment Banking Analyst
The interview process started with an individual case study. I had 1 hour to prepare and then a 15-minute presentation followed by a 20-minute Q&A. I was given an investor presentation, an annual report, and a broker report. My task was to prepare a company presentation covering its characteristics and products, conduct a SWOT analysis, and perform a valuation including EV bridge, EBITDA, and EV/EBITDA multiples. The presentation was in English with a member from the London office. After that, there were three 45-minute interview rounds with senior employees from both London and Paris. These interviews focused on personal fit and technical questions.
- Can you explain the differences between the Dividend Discount Model (DDM) and the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) model?
- What distinguishes the DDM from the DCF?
Investment Banking Associate
It was a multi-round process. First, I had a phone screen with a VP, followed by a technical assessment focusing on modelling. Then, there was a superday with more team members. It was pretty standard for an IB interview.
- What effect does the cost of debt have on WACC?
