First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Peraton.
Senior Systems Engineer
I had one call with the hiring manager and a technical lead. Some other people were supposed to join but didn't. I got a competing offer and let Peraton know, and they had an offer ready for me within 72 hours of my interview.
- Can you tell me about your resume?
- What do you know about systems engineering fundamentals?
- What would you do if you realized a customer requirement wouldn't be met?
Systems Engineer
I went to a networking event where I chatted with 4 people from the company. One of them passed my info along for a job. HR reached out first for a quick chat, and then set up a call with 2 interviewers. It wasn't technical at all; they mostly wanted to talk about the company and what my resume said I could do. It felt more like a chat than a formal interview.
- Can you tell me what you know about our company?
- Walk me through your thought process for the [specific item from your resume]?
Linux System Administrator
The interview process at Peraton, a government contractor, was disorganized and unpredictable. I was initially told there would be two interviews, but then a third interview was added after an offer was made and formalized. The morning of this final interview, which was supposed to be a preparatory 'pep talk,' Peraton rescinded the offer. This situation caused significant confusion for me and my recruiting agency. The company's conduct towards me was rude and belligerent, creating a very odd experience as if they had a personal issue with me. My recruiting agency couldn't understand it either. I've never heard of anyone having an offer, signed paperwork, and a start date, only for everything to be unexpectedly cancelled. I want to emphasize these are my personal opinions.
- Regarding a class C address with a /25 subnet, would the number of IPs be twice as many or half as many?
- Could you explain what Wireguard is?
- How would you troubleshoot internet connectivity issues for an entire office?
