First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Penske.
Management Trainee
They took me in a room and left me there for 20 mins. They finally came in and asked me basic questions listed on a sheet they had. They barely looked me in the eye, they mostly looked at the sheet of questions they had. They had no original questions. I could tell they didn’t care from the first 2 mins of our conversation or lack of. They seemed as if they hated their job. I was embarrassed for them, very unprofessional. At the end of the interview, I asked them questions about the company and they both had a very difficult time answering them. I appreciate their effort. I never got a call back, I wasn’t surprised or disappointed. This company seems left back in time and unwilling to change.
- Can you describe a stressful situation from a past job and explain how you managed it?
Management Trainee
First, I got an email to connect with a recruiter. We scheduled a phone chat. The interview itself was a bit strange, and the interviewer seemed to really brag about her business master's degree. Then, she asked me to do an online assessment and call her back after finishing. That assessment was pretty bad, and I don't think it's a good way to judge someone's job performance because it seemed biased. After I finished and called her, she basically said, in a pretty snarky tone, that if I didn't hear back in two weeks, I should assume I wasn't selected. Honestly, I was pretty annoyed by the whole process and how they handle hiring.
- Could you pick an animal that represents you and explain how that animal relates to this job?
Management Trainee
I applied online in December via my school's career site. Things moved pretty quickly once the process got going, and I got a call in February. The first interview was mainly to check out my communication skills. After that, I went to the facility for two more interviews. The whole thing, from the first interview to the last, took about 1.5 weeks. It was a pretty chill interview. Just make sure you know your resume and what you bring to the table. They asked a lot of situational and behavioral questions. What's cool about this job is that it's basically an entry-level fast track to management. They don't expect you to know everything, but they do expect you to be eager to learn.
