I was rejected for an Operations Manager role but the recruiter said they wanted to consider me for Senior Operations Supervisor, which is a step down. I was way overqualified since they were looking for 2-4 years experience and I have 12, but I was still interested. I interviewed over Zoom with the same team as before, so it was a short conversation since we didn't need to rehash the same behavioral questions. They mentioned internal candidates were applying, which made me think this was just a formality and I wouldn't get the job. I got a denial a week later. It's frustrating because people who are qualified and willing to take pay cuts to join a good company are overlooked for internal hires. So, is someone looking to change careers in middle age with a decade of experience supposed to start at the bottom? It's ridiculous.

It was an over the phone interview. I had to travel to the Memphis location for my Road test. They just went over the details of the job. During the phone interview, they asked the typical driving questions about being safe.

So, about two weeks after I applied, a recruiter reached out. I had like 3 phone calls with them, just basic questions to see if I was a fit. After those calls, they sent me about 20 questions via email that I had to write out answers for. Then, after another couple of weeks, I got word that I was moving on to a panel interview. It was with 5 different leaders, and they all asked me a bunch of questions. The interview went on for a little over an hour, and I felt like it went pretty well. They were really transparent and respectful throughout the whole thing. After it was all done, and I sent thank-you emails to everyone, I got an automated email saying I didn't make it. I then followed up with the recruiter, thanked them again, and asked for some feedback, but never heard back.

About a week or two after I applied, they called me for a phone interview. The lady was generally fine throughout the phone call but skipped any sort of introduction or general information to get straight into the questions. She also did not give any response or follow up questions, and it was quite clear she was strictly following a script. I would have given this neutral, but I was specifically told I would hear back within a week, and that was two months ago.
