Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pelican (United Kingdom).
Software Engineer
The hiring experience was okay. I had 3 levels of interviews for the technical position, which could have been reduced. The set of questions asked in all three interviews were the same and repeated.
- Do you have knowledge of Core Java?
- Do you have knowledge of Angular JS?
Senior Software Engineer
Had a telephonic round with a senior technical manager, then a face-to-face technical round focusing on analysis, RnD, and my CV. Another face-to-face technical round followed, covering both technical and managerial aspects. Finally, an HR round involved project discussion and negotiations.
- Could you answer some basic questions about core Java?
- Can you explain the collection framework?
- How do you handle exceptions?
Software Engineer
I applied through other source and the whole process took 5 days. I interviewed at ACE Software Solutions (Andheri) in August 2015. It was a walk in interview where around 70-80 people appeared. The first round was an aptitude test with 6 sections: quant, logical, verbal, IQ (each with 5 questions), Java (30 questions), and SQL (20 questions), each worth one mark. After that, there was an HR round followed by a technical round with 2 seniors who asked about OOPS, Core Java, and my Final Year Project, and also asked me to write a Java program. After passing the first round, I was invited for a second technical round the following week, which was technical cum HR. Two days later, I was called for the final technical round with the Team Lead. After that, they said my resume was on hold and they would get back to me, but I haven't heard from them since.
- Can you explain OOPS concepts?
- Can you provide details about your projects?
- Tell me about Core Java.
