The recruiters were pleasant, but the first interviewer, a Tech Lead from The Scalers, was quite unhelpful and seemed to lack knowledge. They acted like a robot, reading questions without acknowledging answers, moving on immediately. During the coding portion, clarification questions weren't allowed; the instruction was just to write the code. This isn't a critique of PEI Group, but you should really monitor how third parties conduct these interviews. You might miss out on good candidates by relying solely on them.

The interview process was pretty long. It started with a phone screening, then I met with two managers, then there was an editing test, and finally I met with the head of the department. I was told that was it. But then I got an invite for an in-person “coffee chat.” I was feeling good about it because of the positive feedback and them saying I’d meet the team. I spent money on train tickets to go to their office. Didn’t get the job. It was really draining to be set up like that and then have them just apologize for my “confusion.” Companies should be more upfront about their interview stages to prevent this.

The first interview was a virtual meeting covering basic questions about you, your background, interests, and what drives you. The second interview was in-person. You had to do a prepared task and present it, then there was a Q&A and more questions about how you'd fit in, your working style, and what you've done before.

Coding Technical

They said it'd be 3-4 rounds. I did an assessment, then a coding and technical interview, though the interviewer wasn't very technical. Rounds 3 and 4 never happened. After the second round, I asked for feedback and got a generic rejection message saying my qualifications weren't a strong match. It's frustrating when they waste candidates' time if they aren't serious about hiring, and they should provide real feedback instead of playing games.
