First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Peakon.
Software Engineer
This was a really bad experience with a company that supposedly cares about its people. It started okay with a first call and then a longer meeting about my background. But after the interview, I got no feedback or a personal message. The only email was an automatic rejection, which didn't even mention the job. If you applied for a few jobs, good luck figuring out which one. I emailed for more info and got totally ignored.
- Tell me about your motivation for this role and your salary expectations.
- Could you elaborate on your previous work experiences and employment history?
QA Engineer
I applied online. A recruiter called me, and it was a really nice conversation. Then I had an interview with a Senior QA where we talked about my past experience and did a screenshare task. The next round was with two Engineering team members, and we discussed my past experiences, going all the way back to the start of my career. After that, I interviewed with an automation QA about my automation experience. Then came a round with the product owner and the dev lead, followed by a meeting with the CTO. The whole experience felt great and positive, but I got the sense we weren't a good fit, which is how it ended up. It was still a good experience overall, though. I just felt like some of the rounds were repetitive with different people, and they could have combined them.
- Can you discuss your previous experience?
- What would you choose to automate and explain your reasoning?
Engineer
It started with a 30-minute screening call where we mainly discussed my background and why I'm interested in the company. There weren't many technical questions at this point, I assume those come later. At the end, they asked about my current salary and notice period. I was told they'd get back to me in a few days about whether I'd proceed. I received an email saying I was rejected without any feedback or reason, which was quite disappointing given my expectations from Peakon. I'm unsure if it was due to lack of experience or something I said. I know I'm qualified, currently working in a similar role with all the required technologies daily. I understand there might have been better candidates, and I don't fault them for rejecting me, but some feedback would be appreciated. It was 30 minutes of my time with no takeaway. I hope this feedback is useful for future improvements, as candidates deserve some reasoning after investing their time.
- Can you share your motivation for joining Peakon?
Account Director
It was a really different and professional interview process. It began with a call from the talent lead. Instead of the usual interview questions, they asked me what I wanted to know. This two-way approach continued. The next step was a face-to-face meeting with the UK sales director, which wasn't the typical sales pitch of 'why you're good enough for us.' The process is thorough, so you really need to research the product, people, and industry. After that, there was a presentation, followed by meeting the team.
