Account Manager
The interview process was really something else. Lots of music playing and people seemed young but professional. I met with the director, his assistant director, and another manager. They asked me some really interesting questions about myself and then went over a quick business model. They invited me back for a second round two days later where I got to see more hands-on stuff and learn more about the job. By the third round, I accepted the offer because I was really looking for a place where I could grow professionally, not just a 9-5.
- Can you define marketing?
- Are you able to manage yourself effectively?
- Do you envision yourself taking on a leadership position in the future?
Account Manager
The interview was supposed to be at 9:00 am but I didn't meet the interviewer until 10:00 am. The office was poorly furnished and felt unprofessional. An administrative assistant who was unqualified for recruiting was making calls and admitted it to us. When I was finally called in, I discovered the role wasn't an Account Manager but a direct marketing position in-store promoting products. I declined because of this bait and switch.
- Can you explain the difference between direct and indirect marketing?
Account Manager
It was a three-step interview process. First, there was a meet and greet. Then, a current employee went into more detail about the job. Finally, the CEO did a wrap-up interview. The process itself was okay, but the communication was bad. I'm not from there, and they knew it from the start. They made me do all three interviews and then said they were worried about my commute. They should have said that upfront. My advice is to be clear about concerns early on and know what your company wants. Don't just interview anyone who applies to grow.
- Can you explain the distinction between direct and indirect marketing?
- What's your understanding of our company culture?
