Let's be real about how much time companies waste in interviews. I get that recruiters talk to lots of people, that's expected. But it's not cool to reach out to more candidates than you can handle, then leave them hanging for weeks. If someone interviews well but isn't the top pick, that's fine, but let them know. Or, if you want to look at other candidates, do it before you lead people on through steps that make it seem like things are moving forward. Waiting three to four weeks with zero communication, only to get a generic rejection email, makes the company and the recruiting team look bad. By then, the job might not even be on a candidate's mind anymore, especially since ghosting is so common now. Recruiting is a two-way street. Candidates put in time, effort, and feelings into interviews. Basic communication and timely follow-ups aren't just nice to have; they're part of doing the job right. Companies need to start making recruiters responsible for the candidate experience.

The interview seemed to go well with the person who previously occupied my role and the CEO discussing operations at length. The CEO enthusiastically brought up details about my resume while the person who formally held my position said very little. There was a discussion of onboarding before I left, and that the CEO would try and move towards sending a job offer as soon as possible, but that was the last I heard from the company. No grievances were ever brought up, nor was there any explanation as to what happened.

The interview process was pretty easy. They started with some basic questions about my strengths and weaknesses. Then they asked about my work history and my previous experiences with my former employer to see how it relates to this job I'm applying for.

When I arrived, no one was at the reception area, and there was no doorbell or intercom to announce my presence. The interviewer eventually came downstairs about 15 minutes after my scheduled start time. The manager appeared disengaged, as if preoccupied with other tasks. When we sat down at a conference table, he chose a seat three places away from me on the opposite side. His voice was quiet, and he had a strong accent, requiring me to ask him to repeat himself several times due to difficulty understanding him.
