I made it clear I wanted a lateral move, and they seemed to agree. But then they were looking for really specific experience I didn't have, and acted like I wouldn't be a good fit. At the same time, they mentioned they'd hire someone more entry-level and train them, which is odd because if I'd already done everything in the job posting, I wouldn't have applied. It felt a bit strange that the potential boss acted like I couldn't figure anything out, when I've learned so much throughout my career. I'm out here learning new things daily, and it's working, so it's weird for a younger person to suggest I'd be useless at the job. Maybe I'm too understanding, but when I've interviewed or hired people, I can still have a good conversation even if the candidate isn't the best fit.

I was contacted by a recruiter and went through 2 lengthy on-site interviews, each lasting 2 hours. The first on-site was technical; they had me learn the software's components for an hour and then interviewed me for another hour about it. The second on-site focused on situational questions about my experience. After the second on-site, I waited over a week with no update. I followed up with the recruiter but never got a reply, they ghosted me. I received an offer elsewhere, so it doesn't bother me much, but I dislike their candidate handling. These interview processes often reflect the company.

I was contacted by a hiring manager. Had an initial video interview with two of the people on the project. They just went through my resume and asked about my experience, and what I'm currently working on. Once this was over, they said they'd contact me for a final interview. Recruiter reached out for a final interview and said the CTO would call me directly. I got the phone call and they were all over the place. They would give me a question and I would be as descriptive as possible, but I don't think they were understanding me at all. Once the interview was over, which was about an hour, they said they would contact me whether I got the job or not. Never received a call back, and I reached out to the recruiter, no response. My suggestion is to never apply here, it was a huge waste of time. Completely disrespectful and discourteous getting back to me. Also they had no idea what they wanted for their project and had no structure.

I had an interview that lasted almost an hour with two people from the company. We talked about my past experience and how I could apply even my less related experience to the job. They asked me to walk them through software projects I'd done before and also threw in a code review question. They also asked some soft skill questions about management styles I like, how I deal with stress, and how I approach unexpected issues.
