Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PCCW.
Systems Analyst
So the interview process was pretty standard. Started with a self-introduction, then we talked about my recent job experience. They asked some technical terms, like about the SDLC model and multi-thread programming. It was pretty common stuff, just seeing if it was a good fit.
- Can you describe the SDLC model?
- What do you know about multi-thread programming?
Business Analyst
I sent in my application online and about a week later, HR gave me a call to check my background and why I left my last job. The first interview seemed to be with the hiring manager and maybe HR. After we introduced ourselves, they didn't ask about my past jobs. Instead, the hiring manager threw some really tough, situation-based questions at me to test how I'd solve problems. Once that was done, I got a take-home test where I had to draw a BPMN diagram for a case study and write an essay explaining the process.
- For a system revamp project involving migrating business processes and data from an old system to two new systems with multiple modules, given incomplete old and new system process diagrams, how would you plan to deliver the new system's business requirements within 5 days, with your only resources being developers from the old and new systems and no access to other business stakeholders?
Business Analyst
We start with an online application and resume review, then there's a written test that might cover English, Chinese, and aptitude. After that, you might do a group discussion or analyze a case study. Then there's a panel interview where a group of interviewers will check your qualifications. Finally, you'll have an individual interview with a hiring manager or a senior team member.
- What makes you want to join HKT?
