I interviewed for the Senior Product Manager – Travel role at Paytm a month ago. It was a disappointing experience. I first completed a detailed assignment and prototype. After submitting, there was silence for two weeks. HR said the interviewer was traveling. I followed up again two weeks later, still no response. After a month, I got a rejection email with no context. Candidates put in a lot of effort on assignments, and companies should provide feedback. Not respecting candidate time reflects poorly on the company's culture.

I went through three rounds of interviews. The first was with the CTO, the second with the Head of Engineering, and the final one was with my future manager, who is an SVP of Product Management. They mostly asked about my previous experience, and the CTO round went really deep into some specific projects I'd done before.

The interview process was quite chaotic, involving interviews with random VPs without a clear role definition. It was frustrating because the role I was interviewing for wasn't clear, and I never even met the hiring manager despite completing all rounds. My profile was apparently being considered for different roles, which is odd if you apply for something specific. Like, why Paytm movies if I applied for a mutual fund role? At least they should tell you what role you're interviewing for. They also didn't share compensation details upfront. If there's a salary cap, why interview candidates expecting more? The whole process took over two months.
