Frontend Developer
I sent an email to HR about a job opening with my resume. I was called for an interview on a Saturday. It was a pool hiring with about 25-30 candidates. Round 1 was a machine-based round with 10 questions each on HTML, CSS, and JS, plus 2 coding questions (one on HTML+CSS+JS to build a multi-stage signup page with vanilla JS, and one on React, which I couldn't do). Round 2 was a 1-on-1 technical round. Since there were many candidates and few interviewers, they were interviewing in parallel. Questions covered Vanilla JS, HTML, CSS, and React (which I couldn't answer due to no experience, but the interviewer was okay with it since I had Angular experience). Round 3 was another 1-on-1 technical round. I had to wait a while but food was available. This interviewer was a bit more senior and asked about HTML, CSS, JS, Angular, Git, Webpack, Typescript, build optimizations, and DS. I showed my personal website. Round 4 was a 1-on-1 techno-managerial round. The interviewer seemed to be trying to downplay my skills. Questions included CSS, PWA, responsive design, and managerial topics. After waiting again, I was told the process was complete for now and they'd inform me of the result. About 4 weeks later, I received an offer via email after I had to follow up multiple times. This part of the process was poorly managed. I did negotiate the offer, but it took a long time.
- What is the output of operations using the && and || operators?
Front End Developer
I saw a job post for front-end devs on Linkedin and reached out to the HR person directly. We set up a date for face-to-face interviews. There were 4 rounds total at Paytm's Koramangala office in Bangalore. The questions were a mix of common JS and CSS stuff, plus some theory. Some questions, like explaining the 'URL to page display' process, came up twice. The HR was helpful during the interviews but really blunt about the offer negotiation. After I confirmed my joining, she didn't follow up at all, even though I had resigned from my job then. Luckily, I had another offer, so I went with that. Paytm didn't seem too keen on matching my package or following up on my joining.
- How do you align an item both vertically and horizontally using CSS?
- Can you explain the Box model and the concept of Box sizing?
- What are the different methods for creating objects in JavaScript?
Front End Developer
I got contacted after my resume was screened, and then I went for onsite F2F interviews. The first round was on Mettl, where I had to solve 2 questions in 60 minutes. After that, there was an online coding round, followed by 3 consecutive F2F interviews, all of which I passed. Finally, there was an HR round where I was told that since I'm still an undergraduate, they couldn't offer me a full-time position, even though I had successfully cleared all interview stages.
- Can you explain core JavaScript concepts such as Hoisting, Closures, and Prototype inheritance?
- What are your thoughts on ReactJS and Redux, including component lifecycle, project experience, and state management?
- How would you approach the problem of finding the minimum number of platforms needed to accommodate all trains?
