IT Project Manager
3 rounds of interview, one with HR, one with the Hiring Manager and the last with the VP delivery. All standard questions related to PMO, risk tracking, scope management, stakeholder management.
- Can you describe your typical daily responsibilities as an IT Project Manager?
Project Manager
The interview was confusing, with some odd questions about my university time and job history. I didn't get much chance to ask about the role or company, which made it hard to figure out what they were focused on.
- Could you explain the extended duration of your university studies?
- Could you state your current contract type and the reasons for your job search?
- What was the reason for transitioning from a permanent role to a temporary one?
Project Manager
The interview experience was really bad. It started with a recruiter call where they asked basic questions about my skills. Then, I had a call with the hiring manager, which went well, and I was invited for an in-person meeting with her and two project team members. When I got there, the recruiter talked with me about the company. The hiring manager was late and then started talking about a different role, which felt like a step backwards. She couldn't even explain the day-to-day tasks for this other role, and the recruiter had to print out the job description which I didn't even qualify for. Apparently, this new role wasn't even approved by HR, and the recruiter had no idea about it. I told the hiring manager I was still interested in the original Project Manager role. She then said she'd check if the team members had time to talk to me, and left without saying goodbye. I was confused because it was a scheduled in-person interview. After this, I was told I'd hear back in 24-48 hours, but never did. It seems like there's a major communication breakdown within the company from the management level.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to handle a challenging client.
