Platform Engineer
The interview process was really smooth and was completed in 3-4 days even during the pandemic. The hiring team was proactive with updates. It started with a technical round focusing on core concepts, where I had to write two easy-medium programs testing data structures, followed by basic SQL questions. The next round was also technical, focusing more on system design, dynamic programming, DBMS, and core programming skills. As a fresher, I was given enough time to prepare, with a 2-day gap before this round. The interviewer was supportive, making it feel like a team discussion. The final round was an HR round where the interviewer discussed my interests, reasons for joining, the company's work, technologies used, and areas to focus on, which was very helpful. I'm thankful for the smooth process and the opportunity.
- Tell me about yourself and also asked basic sql queries like write a query to insert full name by combining first and last names in a table, some array and string questions, and some tree and dynamic programming questions to test your DSA skills.
- System design questions, dynamic programming, and core coding skills.
Platform Engineer
I applied through employee referral. After the initial round, HR contacted me saying I was shortlisted for the next round, which was a Hiring Manager round. I was surprised how a candidate could be judged in just one technical round. The hiring manager round was only 20 minutes. After this, they contacted me saying I was suitable for Platform Engineer, not Senior Platform Engineer, based on the feedback from that single technical round. They offered me the position, which I accepted. Later, there was package negotiation, and the next day I was told, 'You applied for PE2 but are suitable for PE1. Currently, there are no positions open for PE1. We will contact you in the future.' I had to call HR to get this update. The HR had a very bad attitude and no manners. When I asked how they could offer a position the previous day without having one open, he started shouting, 'Why are you questioning me? Why are you arguing? I didn't like your negotiation regarding the package. You talk to the person who referred you.' He claimed my referee said I wouldn't join the company, which my referee denied. He also said they had discussed it internally. After shouting at me, he messaged my friend (a Paysafe employee) saying, 'She has a bad attitude, she is arguing. She is rejected and I also updated my manager the same.' HR employees represent the company and are answerable to candidates they offer positions to but later deny without proper explanation and an unacceptable interview process. Asking clarifying questions is not arguing, and the HR doesn't have the right to shout at candidates.
- Can you design a circular queue?
- Could you find the next greater element in an array?
- Tell me about yourself and your family.
Platform Engineer
The recruiting team (Kranthi) reached out to schedule the first round. The whole interview was virtual on Microsoft Teams, with each round lasting 45-60 minutes. I'm really pleased with how fast and smooth the process was. Even during this pandemic when other companies take ages to reply, Paysafe's recruiting team finished everything in just 3 days. Big thanks to Kranthi for making it easy by setting up interviews quickly and sharing results without delay. Overall, I'm super happy because it was the quickest and smoothest interview experience I've had. All interviewers were very calm and polite.
- How would you approach solving these two problems?
- Can you design a data structure for this scenario?
- What is your approach to this system design problem?
