Technical Support Engineer
I went through 7 interviews over 2 months for 2 positions, being one of 4 candidates left. The last 3 interviews were with the leadership team. When I asked about the hiring timeline, two directors smirked and laughed, telling me to 'just hang in there'. The whole experience felt like a humiliation, as if they already had preferred candidates and didn't mind wasting my time. The recruiter called Friday evening at 6:30 PM after a week of waiting to say I wasn't selected. She wouldn't provide any feedback or reasons. It was a good lesson learned, and I won't do it again.
- Were you ever in a flow state?
Principal Engineer
The interview started with a standard recruiter call. Then, there were several rounds that focused on technical aspects. Things got a bit strange when I was told there would be on-site interviews, which would cause a delay. Looking back, I suspect they were just waiting for more candidates. After some time, I was informed that I was the only one moving forward and that they'd schedule a final round. They also mentioned they were down-leveling me without giving a reason. They had other candidates interviewing, but I was told I was in the final round. They knew I was going on vacation for a week, and there was no communication while I was away. Two days after I returned, I reached out, only to be told they had made an offer to someone else who accepted. So, it seems I didn't actually make it to the final round. The last call felt like they were just keeping me as a backup if their first choice didn't work out. It was a really bad experience, especially not being updated after multiple interview rounds that I didn't get the job. This company tries to seem different, but they're really not.
- What's your approach to diagnosing a service that's nearing an SLO violation?
Software Engineer
First, there was a recruiter call. Then, I spoke with the hiring manager, followed by separate calls with two engineers. The people were friendly, and there was no live coding, but we discussed technical topics and my past experiences. They also did a high-level code review of some code I was shown. The conversations made me feel like the team is experienced and capable. However, the process with the recruiter was unprofessional; it took months to get a response after I completed several interview segments with them.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses regarding the framework?
- Can you verbally review this block of code?
- Tell me about your personality and past teamwork experiences.
Customer Success Manager
So I interviewed with PayNearMe for a Senior CSM position and it was a 5/5 experience. The process had like 6 interviews plus a phone screen and an onsite. It was pretty thorough and they really seemed to want to make sure it was a good fit. My recruiter, Therese, was amazing and kept me in the loop and helped me get ready for everything. I liked that everything was super organized and I knew what to expect. Everyone I talked to was really smart and into the company. The onsite was cool to meet leaders and get a feel for the vibe. No complaints really, even though it was a lot of steps, it made sense for finding the right person. They're really professional and transparent.
- Tell me about a time you significantly grew revenue in a client-facing role, including the strategies you used and the results.
