The process started strong but became increasingly disorganized around the third interview, when multiple recruiters began reaching out about the same role, mock calls magically turned into another “quick chat,” etc. Expectations for next steps kept shifting, followed by long periods of silence. Firmly believe the hiring process always reflects how a company operates internally. Simply put, if things were this inconsistent before day one, it suggested deeper issues with internal alignment and communication.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It was a strange interviewing process, seemed disorganized and unprofessional. I was recruited via LinkedIn and had a screening phone call. Then there were 2 Zoom interviews, followed by a mock call interview. The mock call seemed like a trick question format. The instructions said to act out discovery and use/modify their high-level pitch deck to sell their solution, and they provided objections ahead of time. The whole thing was 30 mins; I used 22 mins for discovery/qualification/objection handling and 8 mins for the pitch deck/booking next steps. I got feedback afterwards that I should have done less of the pitch deck and closing steps. My advice is to ditch the pitch deck they give you altogether. Unfortunately, it seemed like people were multitasking during most rounds, so I had to repeat myself a lot.

It all kicked off at my University Career Fair. A recruiter pulled me aside and gave me the lowdown on the company. Then, I had a phone interview just to chat about my resume, super easy. After that, I went in person to meet with two of the NSS managers. It was pretty chill, cool people. The interview is mostly a casual chat so they can get a better sense of who you are. If you can hold a conversation and aren't awkward, it'll be a breeze. Some key things to focus on are what drives you, your career aspirations, and crucially, WHY PAYLOCITY? Really sell them on your interest. Also, why sales? It's mostly straightforward stuff to see if you'll vibe with the company culture. They're looking for ambitious individuals with sharp minds and a drive to succeed. That's the main thing. If you can tackle these questions with that winning mindset, you're looking at a great new job.
