I applied in late December 2023 and the recruiter, who was amazing, got back to me a few days later. We spoke and she said she'd schedule me with the hiring manager after the holidays. A week passed with no word, so I followed up via email. I even texted her like she suggested, but still nothing. Determined, I messaged the Facebook careers page, and someone did reach out to schedule the interview with the hiring manager. It seemed like a courtesy interview though, as the manager ended it right on time without asking many questions, just some small talk. I thought it was a good sign. However, I never heard back until I emailed for an update a few days later. The recruiter quickly replied saying I'd have something by end of day, but I actually heard back the next day that it was a no. It was unbelievable how much effort it took just to get noticed.

I had a recruiter phone screen, but they couldn't give me any details about the role. They said the hiring manager would cover that in the next interview. The plan was a 45-minute chat with the hiring manager, a 60-minute panel interview, and a 30-minute meeting with a director. They mentioned the whole process could wrap up in about 3 weeks if things lined up. After a week with no update on the next steps, I followed up. A few days later, they let me know they were moving forward with other candidates. I definitely wouldn't apply here again. If candidates put in the effort to prepare, the company could at least send a quick email explaining why they weren't selected so candidates can learn from it.

I started with a quick call from the recruiter, and a few days later, I spoke with the hiring manager. The following week was an onsite with four interviews, including a lunch chat, which was great. I interviewed with people from different teams like engineers, leaders, and directors. Finally, I had a last meeting with a Senior Director. The recruiter kept me updated the whole time and was really easy to reach. I always knew what was coming next, which was nice.
