First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Paul Davis Restoration.
Commercial Account Manager
The phone interviews were convenient for preparation and allowed me to have notes ready. I first spoke with HR, and then with the hiring manager for the role. There seemed to be some disorganization initially, but things became much clearer after speaking with the manager.
- Can you describe your experience in business development?
Project Manager
Had 3 interviews and some tests, which I passed. It felt like a lot of time was wasted. They told me I was great and they wanted to work with me, but they needed a reference check. My references were all great, but they decided not to move forward because my old boss doesn't speak English that well and they didn't even try to understand him. He's loud, talks a lot, and has a strong accent. I suspect the company might be racist.
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult situation that was caused by someone else on your team or in the company.
Technical Project Manager
It began with a preliminary chat, then there were two interviews, and it wrapped up with an assessment. On the bright side, the interviews went super well and the talks were insightful. The two people I chatted with were nice and happy to answer all my questions. The downside was that the whole thing dragged on, with two weeks passing between each step. After two months, I got a rejection saying I 'failed an assessment,' which left me and my recruiter confused because we got no details. For the record, I'm calling the experience negative not because of the rejection itself, but because of the communication breakdown, the long waits, and the general weirdness. If a personality test is gonna be judged more than actual skills and experience, they should give that test first, before the interviews.
- Could you share examples of projects you've managed and how you navigated challenges you faced?
Project Coordinator
First, I had a quick 10-minute phone chat with someone from HR. Then, I went in for an in-person panel interview with two executives. What was confusing is that I wasn't told it would be a panel interview beforehand, and the executives I met weren't the ones I was expecting. The interview also revealed the job was more of a Front Desk/Receptionist role, not really a Project Coordinator. This made me lose interest, and honestly, it's probably fine because the HR person never got back to me anyway.
- Can you tell me about your management experience?
