Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pattern.
Product Manager Intern
It was a two-stage process, starting with an in-person campus interview and then moving to a virtual one. They asked typical behavioral and product-related questions. The interviewers were really positive, and I had a great overall experience. There was also plenty of time to ask questions about the company, Pattern, and it felt like a good conversation.
- How have your previous experiences equipped you to excel in this position?
Product Manager
I had a recruiter call that I thought went well. The recruiter was very friendly and seemed impressed, but after the call, I got ghosted. I sent a thank you email and then sent 2 follow-ups regarding next steps, but got no response. It is fine if you don't select me as a candidate to proceed to the next stage, but at least have the professionalism and courtesy to reject me after I send emails asking for an update on my candidacy.
- What do you seek in your next position?
Product Manager
I got an invite for the Senior Product Manager role at Pattern in Lehi, Utah on Monday. The first round was a half-hour phone screen on Tuesday with HR. We talked about my background, my interest in Pattern, and why I was leaving my current job. I explained some of my experiences using the STAR method, linking them to the job description. We also discussed relocation, the salary range ($120K-$140K), and future interview stages. The HR said I'd hear back within 24 hours. I received a rejection by 2 AM the next day, and reaching out for feedback was unsuccessful. I'm confused about the rejection, and the lack of communication is frustrating, especially given the competitive job market. It's ironic that HR expects communication but doesn't provide it to candidates. This lack of transparency impacts candidates emotionally and erodes trust in the hiring process, making them feel undervalued. Based on Glassdoor reviews, it seems this company struggles with management and retaining employees.
- Can you tell me about your background and experiences?
- What attracts you to work for this company?
- What is your reason for leaving your current position?
