It started with a quick 15 minute call with a recruiter who really pushed the company benefits and unlimited PTO. They mentioned the next interview would focus on my work history. Then, I had a 30 minute virtual chat with two managers from the SEO team. We talked about my last three jobs, why I moved on, my accomplishments, and what my boss would say about me, plus challenges I faced. They were nice and told me what to expect next. After that, I got a writing task: find 20 SEO keywords and then write an Amazon product listing with a title, 5 bullet points, and a 2000 character description. Normally, there's an in-person interview with more managers, but they skipped that for me. The company was super fast responding and setting up interviews, always keeping me in the loop.
- What would your previous manager say about you?

The interview process takes a really long time, like 10-15 days between rounds. HR never has any feedback from the talent team. They don't seem to know what they're looking for. Referrals are super important; even after I gave 5, they asked for 2 more. They even asked for a reference from my current manager, which feels like a privacy violation. They'll ghost you after you finish all the interview rounds. If you're looking for other jobs, they don't want you to put 'Open to Work' on LinkedIn. They want everything updated on LinkedIn. They make you do a lot of work, but when you call to ask what's happening, they have no answers.
- Can you tell me about your current job responsibilities?
- What feedback have you been getting from your managers lately?
- Walk me through your experience at companies you've worked for previously, as seen on your LinkedIn profile.

I had a phone screening with HR. Then a video call with the content manager. After that, I had to submit a writing prompt assignment, along with examples of my work. Two weeks later, I thought I had been ghosted, but then they brought me back in for an in-person top-grading and focus interview with the team. It took about an hour and I thought it went well. They were very professional and the company seems very intent on selecting the best candidates. Then, I had to submit three references to speak about my work. Ultimately, it was a long and competitive process, and somewhere along the way came a candidate with more experience. More oversight could have been useful to only moving candidates forward that they are certain about, otherwise it’s a bit of a waste of time.
- Can you share the highs and lows from your past roles and how your manager would rate you out of ten?
