First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Patriot Software.
Software Engineer
After applying, I got a questionnaire. Then, I had a 30-minute phone interview with a Principal Engineer, followed by an onsite interview that HR said would be about 3 hours, but it ended up being over 4 hours. It started with a 3-hour panel interview with 3 engineers, focusing on my experience. Then, one of them gave me a coding problem to solve on his laptop. After that, there was a 15-minute math test with 12 arithmetic questions, no calculator, just paper and pencil. Next, I did a longer online test (around 60-90 minutes) that included a personality test, calculations, logic problems, and vocabulary questions. I finished it in under an hour. Finally, I had a behavioral interview with two people. I felt I did well because the interactions were casual, I solved the coding problem easily, and I did well on the tests. However, I got rejected three days later.
- Could you write a function to convert integers into Roman numerals and also create unit tests for it?
Software Developer
First, I had a phone interview with some typical, standard interview questions. Then, I went in for a face-to-face interview with two senior developers. They mostly asked follow-up questions based on my phone interview answers. After that, I took some easy math and survey "tests." The last step was a panel interview with four developers. Three of them were great, but one was pretty arrogant and rude. He even asked me a question that the others didn't know the answer to and made some rude comments, but overall, it seemed like a great place to work.
- Can you write a function to determine if a number is a power of two?
Software Engineer
HR reached out to me and we set up a phone screen. During the call, HR talked about the company and asked some behavioral questions like "What's your interested area?", "Which programming language do you like best and why?", and "Why should we hire you?". They also mentioned they don't do H1B sponsorship. After that, I haven't heard back in over 10 days.
- What kind of job are you looking for?
- What fields are you most interested in?
- What's your favorite programming language and can you explain why?
