Had an initial screening call that went well. I was expecting a follow-up within a couple of days, but then it was just silence for weeks. I sent follow-up emails, but still no response. The screener was really enthusiastic and made me excited about the job, but it seems they had other candidates in mind.

The whole thing took about 8 weeks from applying to hearing back. I did a phone screen, then met with the hiring manager and two other people, and finally had an on-site. The phone screen was pretty standard – a recruiter asked about my background and salary, and why Greenville. Then I met the hiring manager and two peers for 30 minutes. They asked about my career and again, why Greenville. The on-site was about 6 hours with various people, including the site GM. It involved a 15-minute presentation on a topic given 48 hours prior, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A. They kept asking why Greenville, if I was ready, and about hobbies, which felt a bit weird and repetitive. In the end, they went with an internal candidate, which was fine because the questions about moving to Greenville made me want to prepare a rejection answer anyway.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

First, there was a phone screening with HR, then a panel interview with supervisors/managers (3-4 people), and a plant tour. The phone screening covered behavioral questions and got to know you. The panel interview involved behavioral and technical questions. HR asked behavioral questions and discussed conditions of employment. Lastly, there was a tour of the plant.

I had meetings with some senior engineers and managers, then an interview with HR, and after that, we did a facility tour. The engineers asked me some technical questions and also some general interview questions. HR asked me some questions about my background. I thought the interview went really well, so well that the last engineer I spoke with told me he thought I'd get an offer. But I haven't heard back from them since.
