First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PathAI.
Deployment Engineer
I spoke with a recruiter first to see if I was a fit. Then I interviewed with the hiring manager, which went great. After that, they wanted me to do a 4-hour interview with a bunch of team members, which I was cool with. But before we set that up, I wanted to know more about the pay differences. So I talked to the recruiter again, and she said she'd get back to me. I emailed a few times but never heard back, which was kinda weird since I specifically wanted that second chat to make sure no one's time got wasted.
- Can you describe your approach to managing a customer project or issue?
Software Engineer
I spoke with a recruiting lead who seemed rude. She asked my salary expectations three times right away, even though pay transparency laws are in effect where I live. She wanted a general overview of my career, but then asked for details on the tech I used. Oddly, she didn't ask follow-up questions about my actual work. Instead, she focused on why I left all my past engineering jobs, even a layoff from 5 years ago during the pandemic. She ended the call saying she appreciated my time, but it felt insincere.
- What led to your departure from each of your previous employers over the last five years?
Business Development Manager
Started with an employee referral in Month 1. Then had an initial 30-min chat with the recruiter about my experience and salary in Month 2. Followed by a 30-min meeting with the hiring manager in Month 2, and then another 30-min call with them a few days later also in Month 2. In Month 3, I had another 30-min call with HR/recruiter to get ready for a presentation and five interviews, and they re-confirmed salary expectations. Month 3 also included a 60-min recorded presentation with Q&A. The next stage was five 45-minute interviews spread across the end of Month 3 and the beginning of Month 4. Then, in Month 4, I had a final 30-min call with the hiring manager, which I thought was going to be for a verbal offer, but it turned into a discussion about refining and restructuring the role. After that call, I asked about the timeline for finalizing the role and the hiring process, and they said about 2 weeks. It's now been over 2 months since that final call, and I haven't heard anything from HR or the hiring manager. I actually received an offer from another company because I was still waiting for updates over 6 months after the process began. There were layoffs in June, plus internal restructuring and title changes, which really messed up the hiring process.
- Can you tell me about a project you did for a biopharma client that required getting buy-in internally? What steps did you take to get it, and what happened in the end?
Biomedical Engineer
So I saw some reviews saying the interview process was tough, but for the BME role, it was actually smooth for me. The recruiter was quick to reply, and the manager was really easy to work with. Everything moved fast, and I liked that Path AI doesn't rush you with a 2-week deadline. First, there was a HackerrRank coding question (they give you 2 hours, but it usually takes about an hour). Then, a 30-minute recruiter call to go over my background. After that, a 45-minute manager call for a more in-depth discussion. The final interviews were set up, each lasting 45 minutes. These included: a live ML problem walk-through with some basic coding, questions on basic stats and hypothesis testing, basic cell biology, a chat with 2 or more team members, and a final behavioral chat with the manager. My tips: 1. Prep well, know your stuff inside out. 2. If you don't know something, it's better to be upfront. 3. Ask questions to show you're engaged. Path AI is selective, so show them what makes you stand out with examples.
