Store Manager
So, this was with a Franchise group that has 20 stores around here, so my experience might be a bit different. I saw an ad on Craigslist for the position and sent in my resume. Got a call the next day to set up a phone interview for a few days later. The phone interview was about 20 minutes and they asked general stuff like why Party City and about my current job duties. After that, they scheduled me for a face-to-face interview at the store where the job was open, with the director of stores. This one-on-one interview was about 30 minutes and focused on behavioral questions. They said I'd hear back in a few days.
- Can you share an instance where you had to hold an associate accountable?
- Describe the biggest risk you have ever taken.
- Why are you interested in Party City?
Store Manager
First I talked to the Party City recruiter, who then set me up with the District Manager. Then there was a 1 on 1 with the DM, followed by a phone interview with the HR Manager. After that, I had a 1 on 1 with the Regional Manager. The next step involved talking to a psychologist for over an hour. This psychologist then set me up for a battery of tests at a staffing agency, which took about 5 grueling hours to complete. Once the tests were sent back to the psychologist, the DM called me with an offer, assuming I did very well on the testing.
- What do you think are the key elements to running a successful store?
Store Manager
I went through four interviews for the Store Manager position, but then they ghosted me. It's weird because now they're advertising for store managers everywhere in Minnesota, and the District Manager I met with isn't there anymore. Something seems off with Party City, and it's not looking good for them. Just a heads up, this company might be in trouble.
- They asked some standard questions about my background and experience.
