First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Party City.
Manager
It was a three-part interview process. First, there was an initial screening, then a discussion with a Direct Manager (DM), and finally a discussion with a Regional Manager (RM). They were very enthusiastic and tried to sell the company hard during these stages. I was told they had investment money and were very competent. They asked me a lot about how I manage people and how I handle customer service. They also quizzed me on my knowledge of the company.
- Tell me about your general approach to management.
- Describe your customer service style.
- What information do you have regarding our company?
Assistant Manager
For this role, you will typically have an interview with the Assistant Manager. They will ask general questions, unless you are interviewing for Halloween Season. Otherwise, they will use a questionnaire. If you are applying for Management, a drug test and background check are required.
- What did you do last Halloween and what was your role?
- Do you enjoy Halloween?
Assistant Manager
I interviewed with the HR Manager and the District Manager. The District Manager was on his phone and only present for about 40 seconds, seeming too busy for the interview. I sat in the back office. The Store Manager was enthusiastic about having me on the team. In contrast, the other 7 Store Managers I encountered over the next 4 years didn't seem to care much about team involvement.
- Do you enjoy dressing up?
- Are you a fan of Halloween?
