Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Parsons Corporation.
Environmental Scientist
After applying, I got an email from the recruiter. We had a quick 20-minute chat. It was basically a screening and intro call. He shared company info and asked about my career goals and past work. He then said he'd pass my info to the hiring managers. They got back to me in about 3-4 business days to schedule an interview. The next interview was on Microsoft Teams with three Project Managers from the office I applied to. They asked questions about my science background and some regular interview stuff. It felt pretty natural, and they asked questions based on my resume and what I said, guiding the conversation.
- Can you share an instance of encountering a field problem and your solution?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
- What prompted your departure from your previous employer?
Environmental Scientist
I had an onsite interview that lasted about 45 minutes with two interviewers at the same time. They asked pretty standard questions. Some questions were directly related to the job, focusing on safety and my previous experience. They also asked classic behavioral questions, like when I was challenged. I noticed the interviewers tended to give long answers, which was great for getting a lot of info from one question. But it made it a bit hard for me to contribute much to the conversation with my own long answers.
- Do you have experience in the field using the required methods?
Senior Scientist
The interviewer was really nice and easy to chat with. They seemed genuinely interested in what we wanted to achieve in our careers and what they were looking for in candidates. The second interview felt a lot like the first, just with more interviewers present.
- Can you walk me through your previous work experiences?
