The interview process was really smooth and everyone was friendly. They asked a lot of behavioral questions because they care a lot about company culture. The company was recently acquired, so the culture might change, but it's too early to say.

I first met up with someone from SF for coffee and we had a nice chat. After that, I went to Vancouver for two in-person interviews. The first was a technical interview with an engineer from SF where I had to solve a tough but fair programming problem. The second interview was with someone from the Vancouver office, and it was pretty awkward because they seemed cold and uninterested.

Got a call from the recruiter end of December about the role in Vancouver, my experience with microservices and salary expectations. In January, I had a chat with the hiring manager about my background and projects. He talked about the company and asked me to briefly describe my last project's design and a simple data structure question. Then, a mid-level engineer interviewed me, asking more about microservices and a KMP algorithm string matching question. After that, a senior person asked about deployment, CI/CD, and agile, mixing technical and behavioral topics. The next round was challenging, with many observability questions, which was fun. Finally, the hiring manager checked for cultural fit. It was a really nice experience; everyone was great. I would have accepted the offer if it came on time.
