Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Parametric Portfolio Associates.
Investment Analyst
You'll meet with four different people from various departments. Each meeting will be about thirty minutes long. They will ask mostly behavioral questions with some technical ones. You should generally know what's going on with the market.
- Which of the firm's products do you like the most?
Investment Analyst
First, there's a quick 15-minute phone chat with Morgan Stanley in NYC. After that, they'll let you know about the next steps. Then, there's a 2-hour in-person meeting at the office.
- What makes you interested in derivatives?
Investment Analyst
It started with an initial HireVue, which was pretty standard. They asked why you would be a good candidate and to summarize a recent financial event. The second interview involved back-to-back sessions with different team members. Most seemed nice, but some clearly had interview fatigue (totally understandable). Questions included how you prioritize tasks and a scenario about receiving urgent work from a senior analyst without clarification.
- If your senior analyst assigned you work with an EOD deadline and you were unable to ask for clarification on their needs, how would you proceed?
- What would you do if your senior analyst gave you work that needed to be done by EOD and you couldn’t ask what they needed?
