Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Parametric Portfolio Associates.
Intern
The interview was pretty straightforward and didn't involve any technical questions, just standard interview queries. They're looking for candidates who show genuine enthusiasm for the company. Both parts of the interview were online; the first was on HireView, and the second was a Zoom meeting with a panel of four people.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with someone?
Intern
The process started with a phone screen with two engineers. They asked basic questions like the difference between a stack and queue, what projects I've done and the technologies used, and the use of recursive functions. Then there was an onsite interview with three parts. The first was a short 10-minute chat with an engineer about my projects and experience, and they talked about the job. The second was a 45-minute pair programming session. The third was with HR, and it felt like they were just waiting for the other two to recommend me so the hiring manager could decide if a fourth interview was worth it.
- Can you explain the difference between a stack and a queue?
- Could you tell us about a project you've worked on?
- Can you design a store merchandise system?
Intern
I interviewed a couple times and got pretty deep into the interview process, one being on-site, another being an interview with multiple members on the team via video. At the end of each interview, I was ghosted. The least they could have done was send an email back that they moved on to other candidates.
- Tell me about a time you discovered a bug in your work or a project.
