The whole process was really thought out and felt supportive. They were upfront about what to expect in every part, how to get ready, what they already knew about me (to avoid bias), and what they were looking for. After the first call, I talked about how I approach facilitations and projects and sent in a video of myself giving a presentation. The last part was a week of five 1-on-1 meetings with people in different roles. We did some role-playing on how I'd handle difficult situations, and I learned more about the company and the specific job. I finished feeling like they checked thoroughly to ensure they were hiring fairly for the skills needed to succeed, and I got plenty of chances to show what I can do, not just talk about it.

So the interview process here at Paradigm felt pretty opaque, which is kinda ironic given what they do. It reminded me of another review, and even the CEO commented that things have changed. But honestly, it didn't feel like it. I'm not just being salty, I want to make sure future folks know what they're getting into. No salary range upfront, which is wild because they supposedly help clients with that. After a first chat, and then two more phone calls, they wanted a video presentation and a slide deck (PowerPoint or Google Slides). They gave some tips on clarity and engagement. Based on that, I didn't move forward. They took another week to give me feedback on my presentation, and it wasn't even from the person who assessed it. They said there's a secret grading rubric, but what I got were just comments based on the initial guidelines. A real rubric has scoring, you know? All I got were notes and one line saying it wasn't clear, even though I had an outline, a summary, and based it on a well-known report. It was disheartening because Paradigm talks about transparency and efficiency for their clients, but they don't seem to practice it themselves. Feels like a lack of integrity. And the recruiter? Laughed at my questions and then kept reminding me that getting feedback at all is more than most companies offer. That might be true, but they're supposed to be about an inclusive workplace, and that includes constructive follow-up. Honestly, after talking to her, I'm glad I didn't get an offer. Her immaturity and impatience were not what I expected from a company like Paradigm. I hope they can actually live up to their mission, because the mission itself is good, even if the execution is off.

So the interview process started with a 45 minute phone screening, then we had a 30 minute Zoom interview. After that, there was a 3-hour take-home assignment. The whole thing finished up with six interviews that were each about 30-45 minutes long. It took about 2 months in total, with about 1-2 weeks between each stage. Each interview was one-on-one and covered different parts of the job or the company.
- Can you tell me about your background and why you're interested in this position?
- Given a particular situation, how would you approach it in this role?
