First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Papyrus.
Retail Sales Associate
It was pretty casual. Since this store is small, we did the interview in person, outside at tables. They had a separate application form, and most of the questions they asked were based on that, not really on my resume.
- Would you be comfortable helping customers with custom orders?
Sales Associate
When I got to Papyrus on Lexington Ave, the staff was really welcoming. The person in charge gave me an application, which I took home and returned the next day with my resume and cover letter. I dressed professionally both times I went in. Within two weeks, the store manager called to schedule an interview. On the day, the same staff greeted me. The manager, a very energetic woman, shook my hand when we met. The interview was pretty straightforward. She asked about my previous jobs, my skills for this role, if I was in school, and if I had another job. I saw my resume in a pile, so I figured they were just going through applications. At the end, I shook her hand again, and she said I'd hear back within a week. I got a call three days later saying I was hired and to come in Monday for paperwork and my schedule.
- What skills do you possess that align with this position?
Sales Associate
I saw a sign in the window at Papyrus that said they were hiring. I went in and asked about available positions. The manager quickly scheduled an interview with me to discuss potential roles. I arrived 20 minutes early to show I was serious about the position. The interview was easy-flowing and comfortable, with simple questions. The interview concluded, and the interviewer mentioned she would pass my information to the hiring manager for review and a potential callback. It was a bit confusing as the interviewer couldn't specify which positions or locations were available.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What's your work experience?
- Why did you want to work for this company?
