Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pape-Dawson.
Civil Engineer
The interview process was great, they are very nice and flexible with scheduling. Everyone I spoke to seemed really outgoing and enthusiastic. They do take a while to respond to emails, which is understandable given they're busy, but it's a bit tough when I have deadlines for other offers.
- Could you tell me why you decided to pursue civil engineering?
- What attracted you to our company specifically?
- What are your career aspirations?
Transportation Engineer
It was an online interview via Microsoft Teams. The interviewer was very nice and asked questions, and at the end, she asked if I had any questions. She did mention they are looking for someone social as they are a very family-oriented company.
- What three words would your former employer use to describe you?
- Describe yourself without using engineering or school-related terms.
- Tell me about your favorite project.
Transportation Engineer
I met with several people one-on-one, not in a group, and the order didn't matter. I was given a tour of the office, and that was it. I was asked a few questions. The most unprofessional part was when the employees discussed Mr. Pape's religion, which I found inappropriate for a job interview.
- Could you tell me about your weaknesses?
