Account Manager
After applying, I had a recruiter interview three weeks later. It was pretty standard. Then, a week after that, I met with the Hiring Manager. Honestly, it felt like they weren't really interested in interviewing me. They started by talking about their favorite TV show, how many kids they have, and their recent vacation. Then they told me to only talk about professional stuff. They didn't mention anything about the company or why the role was open. It also seemed like they hadn't read my resume because their questions didn't match how I described my experience. They did mention the team wanted to make an offer in the next 7 business days. Since I was only at the beginning of the process with three more steps, it was obvious I wasn't going to get the job before the 30-minute interview was even over. I was really hoping for this company, but this whole experience was a major letdown.
- What have you learned in your current role?
Account Manager
First there was a recruiter screening, then a meeting with the hiring manager, and an online assessment. The recruiter asked about my ideal salary range during the initial screening. The base salary she guaranteed was actually much lower than what the hiring manager confirmed. Near the end of the second interview, the HM mentioned he'd want to make an offer when the headcount became available, as they were holding applicants for their next hiring phase. A few days later, I got an online assessment to finish. Before I could, I got an auto-note saying my application wasn't being considered anymore. It was a bit of a confusing process overall, but it sounds like people like the work if they can figure out the hiring process.
- Can you tell me the top three qualities you possess that best qualify you for this position?
Account Manager
This was a professional and straightforward process. It included a few different meetings, starting with a recruiter from Panda Doc and potentially ending with the head of the department. My specific role involved a mock call at the end, which was also straightforward, with no tricks or misdirection. They just wanted to see the effort and research you could implement.
