First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Panasonic.
Hardware Engineer
I had two phone interviews, first with the hiring manager and then with the lead hardware engineer. After doing well in those, I got invited for an in-person interview a few weeks later. It started with a quiz on Linux commands, FDMA, TDMA, computer networking, token ring topology, J-K flip flop, resistor divider bias, transistor, and timing diagrams, I answered about 95% of those. Then I interviewed with the hiring manager, lead hardware engineer, and two staff engineers. After that, I went to the electronics lab to show some hands-on skills. They gave me a circuit board with a blown fuse and asked me to do voltage, frequency, rise time, and fall time measurements. Since I have 2 years of experience, it was pretty easy. The whole interview day was from 10 AM to 5 PM, including lunch with the team, which was great. It's been over a month and a half and I still haven't heard back, not even a rejection. I've already accepted another offer and have given up on this company. They have an EXTREMELY SLOW HIRING PROCESS. I put in a lot of time to prepare and was left disappointed.
- Can you tell me about basic transistor circuits?
- Do you have experience with power supply topologies?
- Are you familiar with digital circuits?
Hardware Engineer
I went through 4 interviews - 3 phone interviews and 1 in-person. They flew me out to interview and spent all day doing hands on and written testing along with interviews with managers. After the interview, I was contacted a week later to ask for selection update. I was told they were still doing interviews. I waited 2 more weeks and tried to contact again, but got no response at all from 2 HR reps or the hiring manager in the division I interviewed for. I tried contacting by both phone and email. It was very frustrating since the whole interview process took over 2 months and then they don't even have the courtesy to respond and let me know either way.
- Did you perform a hands-on lab assessment?
- Can you explain your thought process for the hands-on lab assessment?
- Did you complete a 4-page electronics exam?
Hardware Engineer
I applied for the position and was first contacted by HR for a preliminary video screening. Then, I had a video call with the Director, which covered both technical and behavioral aspects. A week later, I participated in a 1-hour online written test with 4 engineers, focusing on RF basics and hands-on lab knowledge. After a few days, I was invited for an on-site interview that lasted the entire day and included written exams and lab exercises. I received a job offer following the on-site interview.
- Can you explain the concept of power added efficiency?
