Software Engineer
The interview process was extensive, smooth, and interactive. It focused heavily on my current projects, software design concepts, and programming skills, including data structures like lists, queues, and trees. The panel was friendly and provided information about the job, team size, in-office policies, and company benefits.
- Can you tell me about your software design experience?
- Tell me about your programming skills.
- What do you know about data structures?
Project Manager
I had a personal meeting with the team leader. It was very focused on the job itself, without any general questions like 'What are your strengths?'. The conversation was very concrete and structured, and very professional. I'm writing a few more words because the tool requires it, but I have nothing else to say. The company is good, I would like to work there again.
- When can you start, preferably immediately?
Staff Engineer
The recruiter was too busy to talk and forgot to send the job description. My interview got rescheduled 3 times due to interviewer availability, which was unprofessional. I'd read that the company was a sweatshop, but there were also many good reviews. At the onsite interview, I waited 40 minutes because interviewers were in a meeting. I have 12 years of experience leading teams. They all mentioned working long hours and hard. One interviewer said if I get used to the pace, I can work anywhere. One interviewer fell asleep because he slept late the previous night. I found out they've been understaffed for over 2 years. The manager left 15 minutes early for a meeting. I saw many contractors and people working late during the tour. I got an offer 3 weeks later but declined due to the work conditions.
- What are the normal Project Manager questions?
- What are the Electronic questions?
Intern
So I had two rounds of technical interviews. The first one was a phone call, and the second was a Skype call with a panel of 5 people. They both went pretty well. They asked me technical questions and about my past projects, and how those academic projects could be used in a real job. The panel seemed to like me. I waited over 2 months for a response from HR. I followed up twice by email, once after 15 days and again a month later. I also messaged the HR person on LinkedIn but never heard back. It would have been nice to get a response, even if it was a rejection, instead of being left hanging.
- Can you describe your projects and what you learned from them or how they could be applied?
