First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Panalpina.
Intern
It was a calm morning and everyone was friendly and I was able to answer questions that were asked. You can get a feel for the company by checking employee posts, how long people stay there, and what they talk about.
- In five years, where do you envision yourself?
Translator
It was fine. Just had to prove to them that I speak the language they are hiring me for. They just asked a few questions about my history with translation.
- Tell me about your fluency in the language.
Import and Export Analyst
The process was archaic and tedious. The HR asked a lot of questions, mostly about my personal life. I felt invaded. The English test involves a teacher calling you, plus you have to write an essay in English (back to the 90s). I already had years of experience in the area, the position seemed like it was for the CEO. In the end, they didn't even get back to me after so many stages. I found it disrespectful.
- They asked about my partner's profession.
- They asked if I intended to have children.
- They asked how many children I intended to have.
Recruiter
Had a phone interview with the Recruiter, mostly to schedule me with the hiring manager. She asked basic questions and it was a quick prescreening call, under 10 mins. Then talked to the HR director for over 50 mins on the phone, which I thought went well. I was told I'd be scheduled for an in-person meeting. I'd been talking to the recruiter for over a month and they said the HRD was busy but wanted to meet me in person. I followed up via email but haven't heard back or gotten any updates. If this company can't provide honest feedback or timely responses to candidates, I wouldn't want to be part of it. As a recruiter, it's crucial to contact all candidates and give them status updates instead of leaving them hanging. It's all about the candidate experience.
