Mechanical Design Engineer
Really simple 2 step interview. First, there was a quick call with HR, then about a week or two later, I had a Teams meeting with the people who would be my managers for the internship. We mostly just chatted about my background as an engineering student and any experience I thought was relevant.
- Can you explain the process you'd use to estimate the number of tennis balls that could fit inside a 747 airplane?
- What steps would you take to calculate that quantity?
Mechanical Engineer
I found the job online and applied. A couple weeks later, HR called me to ask some easy behavioral questions and set up an in-person interview. The interview was a panel with a few managers, and they asked about my experience and knowledge of design and manufacturing.
- There was a short test at the end where you had to walk them through your thought process to solve.
- Can you walk us through your thought process for solving this problem during a short test at the end?
Mechanical Engineer
Got a call from HR and set up an in-person interview about 2 weeks later. The interview was with an HR person and one of the plant engineers. They asked pretty basic questions about technical skills and knowledge.
- Have you had prior experience with heavy machinery?
