Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PACCAR.
Analyst
Had an initial phone screening, then two in-person interviews. The first one was with two project managers, and the second one was with a project manager and an assistant director. Both interviews were pretty easy; just throw in some data analysis buzzwords and they'll be impressed. I never heard back after that, not even an automated rejection email.
- Can you describe some data analysis techniques you've applied in your past roles?
Analyst
The process kicked off with a phone interview. A few days later, they got back to me and scheduled another interview for the following week. It was a 5-on-1 meeting, not even at a round table. I was on one side, and they were all on the other, asking questions from what seemed like identical sheets. It was tough figuring out who to talk to with so many people, and I found it odd to have them all at once instead of separate interviews. Regardless, I think my situation might be unusual, but expect the usual questions and nothing out of the ordinary. As with everything at PACCAR, it was strictly by the book.
- What motivates your interest in working for PACCAR?
- Can you describe how you handle high-pressure situations?
Analyst
The interview and hiring process is pretty standard. They'll give you a call to set up an interview. Once you come in, you'll meet with the hiring manager one-on-one. Sometimes, depending on the specific job, they might have group interviews. The second round of interviews usually involves meeting the director of the department. When you come in for any interview here, make sure you're wearing a suit because first impressions are really important. They ask typical interview questions, so definitely do your homework on the company, the industry, and the role.
- What animal would you choose to be, and what's your reasoning behind that choice?
