Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PACCAR.
Accountant
The interview process was heavily focused on behavioral questions and lasted 7 hours. I had to ask for a break, and wasn't offered water or lunch. HR seemed disorganized. I was told an offer was coming, but it took 4-6 weeks, which almost made me reject it. Paccar has a rigid culture where they prioritize the company over employees, which is reflected in their strict rules about not leaving early or getting comp time for long hours. I think a union might take advantage of this attitude.
- Can you describe your Excel skills?
- Do you have SAP experience?
Accountant
I applied on Glassdoor and a recruiter reached out the very next day to set up a phone interview. It was a typical phone screen, mostly behavioral questions, with just one technical question about my Excel and SAP skills. The call quality was really bad, so I had to ask her to repeat herself a few times, but it went okay. I got confirmation for a second round interview two months later, which will be three 30-minute interviews with the hiring managers.
- Can you tell me about your life goals?
- What are your career aspirations?
- Do you have a plan to obtain your CPA?
Accountant
First, the HR recruiter reached out and conducted a phone interview. After that, I was scheduled to meet with the accounting manager and the controller. They inquired about my specific Excel proficiencies and my previous work history. Additionally, they asked some questions regarding my approach to managing work and tasks.
