First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pabian Law.
Operations
Interviewed with different team leaders of the firm. It was a good chance to meet various people you'd work with. The process had multiple steps, not just a single interview.
- What specifically attracted you to our company?
Associate Attorney
It was a really straightforward and nice interview. I liked talking to the person. I learned a good amount about the company. But it seemed like if I did move on, there would be a lot more interviews to come.
- What makes you want to be considered for this role?
Hospitality Assistant Manager
The interview process started with an initial phone screen and was followed by three in-person interviews. The first was with HR, which included an interview, two assessments, and a writing assignment. The second interview involved meeting with supervising attorneys and having a Skype call with current employees in the position. The final interview was with the owner of the firm. The entire process spanned about 5 hours over 10 days. HR was very responsive throughout. I appreciated the opportunity to speak with current employees. Although the role seemed great, I withdrew from the process after meeting with the owner, as I realized it wouldn't be a good fit. The initial Q&A was okay, but his negative comments about junior staff during our conversation were off-putting.
- Could you describe your management style?
Junior Paralegal
The interview process is a bit long; you meet with the attorney twice, and also three separate groups of people who work there. It felt a little redundant because sometimes the questions were the exact same ones the previous groups asked. While it's important for the team to meet the candidate, it seems like they could have combined some employees into one group instead of having several. Another odd thing was that even though it's an 'Entry Level' job, when training was brought up, it wasn't clear if there would be 'official' training or if it would be more of a learn-as-you-go situation. It was also really frustrating when they kept asking if I had questions. While it's definitely recommended to have questions for this interview, I think all the groups were really persistent about asking the candidate if they had questions. After meeting four or five different groups, it's hard to keep coming up with questions (especially if you're nervous!). So, maybe at the end, they could just say, 'If you have any questions, feel free to email any of us' instead of staring at the interviewee waiting for a response. It seemed like everyone there knew what they were doing and were happy in their jobs, but you don't need to brag about how happy you are on Glassdoor for people to see that. If it's a good fit, one would know during the interview, not based on how happy or unhappy employees are on a website. It looked like a great 'young' environment for new hires, and the office was really updated and clean.
