First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oyster.
Customer Support Specialist
So there were four steps in the hiring process. First, a call with an outside recruiter, which was a bit weird since they weren't from Oyster. Second, I spoke with a Team Lead. Third, there was an assignment they had me do. Fourth, I was supposed to meet with someone, but I forgot their name and title because I got rejected after the second step. After I got the rejection email and replied, they sent me a link to their course on remote work, which was strange since I already have experience working remotely.

Customer Support Specialist
The hiring process was super smooth and transparent, felt like they really wanted me there. I got contacted by a hiring manager super fast, like less than a day after applying, and we set up an interview. It was chill and she asked everything she needed, including salary expectations (don't forget the currency!). She gave me feedback and explained what was next. Then I talked to a Customer Support team lead. The questions got a bit technical, touching on my CSS know-how and teamwork skills. She was honest about my performance and what to expect. Next up was a home task where I had to answer questions about what I'd do in the role. After submitting that, I had an interview with two team leads to go over my answers. They were less chatty but kept it informal and to the point. Didn't get much feedback here, but it made sense. About a week later, I got the offer from Oyster!

- How would you describe your relationship with your manager?
Customer Support Specialist
I applied online and was contacted quickly to set up a call with an external recruiter. This initial chat was mainly to go over my general customer support background and my thoughts on remote work. Next, I had an interview with a team lead where we dove into my experience, skills, and how I work. It was a really friendly and conversational chat, and I got a good sense of what it's like to work at Oyster. After that, I was given a case study to complete. Once I submitted it, I had another interview to discuss my case study responses. The whole process was quite smooth. The recruiting coordinator was on top of things, updating me every few days, and was really helpful with any questions I had. Everyone I talked to made me feel really comfortable.
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
- Share an instance where you were unable to assist a customer.
