Product Manager
I got referred and went through a 1-hour phone screen where I was asked about 4-5 questions, including one on product design and some on my previous experience. After that, I got invited for on-site interviews. The HR Manager mentioned there would be 5 on-site interviews and even provided the names of the interviewers and their intended topics. It was pretty organized, though the interviewers didn't strictly stick to their assigned topics. All the questions were relevant product questions. One interviewer was a bit impatient and would move to the next question before I finished answering. They all asked about my resume, but surprisingly, none asked about my current product. Overall, the experience was fine.
- Should Amazon enter the smartphone market? Explain your reasoning.
- Design an Oyo leisure-stay product. Should it be a separate app or integrated? If integrated, how?
- Walk me through a past product that failed. Discuss your role and learnings.
Product Manager
For new grads, we do 1 group discussion and 1 interview. We care about clear thinking, structured thoughts, first principles, culture fit, and growth. For experienced hires, there are 3 interview rounds. If even one interviewer isn't convinced, we don't extend an offer.
- What improvements would you suggest for your most-loved product?
- Can you estimate the market size for a product like XYZ?
Product Manager
I had about 5 or 6 calls, but many times they had to reschedule. It took me nearly 3 months to get through all the calls. After finishing, I never heard back from them, not even an email to let me know I wasn't moving forward.
- Given a use case, how would you plan the product's development?
- What actions would you take if a problem arose during development?
- How would you handle changes that come up during the product development process?
