First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oxford Learning Center.
Tutor
It was a half hour interview with typical questions, but it included a student-teacher scenario. You had to correct some sample work and give feedback to the 'student.' There was also a second interview or shadow shift before they hired you.
- What strategies would you use to assist a student lacking motivation?
Maths Tutor
Had an in-person interview at the centre, then did a 1-hour interaction with the students. During the interview, I was asked to introduce myself and confirm my availability and if I could commute comfortably. They asked about my achievements, the good and bad parts of tutoring at the centre, and how I handle conflicts. I also had to solve 2-3 easy math problems.
- Tell me about an achievement you're proud of.
Coordinator
I applied online and got an email to set up a Zoom interview. It was just one interview, and then I got a job offer. Just so you know, OLCs are run by franchisees, and they all do things a bit differently.
- My franchisee asked me if I have children.
- My franchisee didn't speak French so they didn't check my French skills.
- I was asked typical questions about self-management, managing tutors, and hypothetical situations.
Education Coordinator
It was a phone interview. The management is not so good since they called me in the morning and inform me to do the interview right away (not sure if it is normal but I have never encountered something like this before). Normal questions like self introduction. Then questions were asked based on the self introduction and CV. I applied for the education coordinator role, they say teaching will be the tutor's work but they still asked me a lot about my teaching experience.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Would you rather teach elementary or high school students?
