Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Owens Corning.
Intern
I had an interview at UT, it was formal and in a business room. They asked me basic behavioral questions using the STAR method. The feedback I got was that my experience needed to be more relevant to the IT position.
- Tell me about a time you encountered a workplace difficulty or conflict.
Intern
It's a simple interview, just asking general questions. They really want to see a certain kind of energy from you – you should be super cheerful, happy, and enthusiastic, but still professional. If you're a person of color, good luck, because there's a serious lack of diversity. Try to sound as average as possible, but not so average that you don't stand out. They start judging you the moment they first see you.
- Describe a situation where you encountered a difficulty and how you managed to resolve it.
Intern
The interview was pretty laid-back, but it went on for a while with a lot of questions. It was mostly behavioral stuff, like 'tell me about a time when...' They also asked questions that were directly related to my resume. Overall, it felt pretty relaxed.
- Could you share an instance when you encountered a challenge?
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult colleague.
- Describe a situation where you took the initiative.
