I had a conversation with an Overtime recruiter and was really impressed with how much they seemed to care about the candidate experience and their company culture. Turns out, that wasn't really the case, because I ended up getting completely ghosted by them. The recruiter said they'd get back to me in a few days, but they never did.

I put in my application online and then about a week later, someone reached out asking me to do a social media test. It was a live test where someone from the social media team would show me videos from a recent football game and I had to quickly write captions for posts I thought would be good for Overtime's social media. About 7 days after that, they invited me for an interview at the office. Everyone there was really nice, and they let me know their decision within a week.

I had two interviews, the first was a preliminary get to know you that was very friendly and conversational. The second one was with a different person and a lot of it was explaining my background more in depth and asking about the position. They were both very nice but I was ghosted. I appreciate at least a complimentary rejection email and cannot understand companies who can't seem to do that.

I had a great initial screen and then spoke with a team member for about an hour, way longer than the scheduled 30 minutes. I checked in with the recruiter after the holiday (around July 4th) about what's next, and they said to hit them up the week after. I did, but didn't hear back. It's a shame because I really enjoyed talking to the team and would have appreciated at least a rejection.
