Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oura.
iOS Engineer
The interview process involved two rounds. The first was a general interview where I got a good feel for the company, the interviewers, and the role, making me feel it would be a good fit. The second round was technical, focusing on iOS development. The interviewers were again pleasant, and I felt a strong alignment in mindset with my potential colleagues. The technical questions were manageable for me. Having interviewed others myself, I found the questions similar to those I've used. I received an offer and felt the excitement from the people at Oura about having me join. The entire interview experience was very positive.
- Can you explain the distinction between a class and a struct in iOS development?
- Could you share any memorable or significant experiences from your programming journey?
iOS Engineer
The interview process kicked off with an introductory recruiter call. This was followed by a 60-minute call with an Engineering Manager. Then, there were three technical interviews: a 90-minute pair coding session, a 60-minute system design technical interview, and a 45-minute product interview with a PM. Everyone I interacted with was really friendly, enthusiastic, and smart. The overall vibe of the company and the people from the first call to the last interview was fantastic – a solid 10/10.
- For the coding technical prompt, we'd like you to add functionality to an existing codebase. Afterwards, we'll discuss the decisions you made, the trade-offs involved, and potential future work.
- Tell me about your thought process and the choices you made while working on the coding task.
- What were the pros and cons of the approach you took in the coding exercise?
iOS Engineer
The whole process consisted of several interviews; general HR, technical and couple of checkups related to details of offering. All of the discussions were professionally lead and as a candidate I felt comfortable and had good overall view about the company potential offer.
- The HR person wanted to go through topics about your personality and background in general.
- In the technical discussion, tell me about your background as a Software Developer.
- What are the highlights of your career?
