First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ottimate.
Senior Quality Assurance Engineer
This was one of the worst interviews I've experienced due to the unprofessionalism of the interviewer. They asked nonsensical questions, and even after I clarified, they insisted I answer them as asked. They also made me repeat an answer because I looked away from the camera briefly. A significant portion of the interview was spent discussing my current and expected salary, which I don't think is the interviewer's role.
- Can you explain the difference between implicit and explicit waits, and describe negative scenarios for their implementation?
Software Engineer
First round was a culture fit with the Engineering Manager, talking about the role and going over my past experiences. Then, there were rounds focused on problem-solving, with Leetcode Medium-level DSA and SQL problems. After that, rounds 3-5 were backend-focused technical interviews covering system architecture, SQL/database concepts, core CS fundamentals, and coding practices. The final round, round 6, was another culture fit with the CTO to ensure final alignment.
- Do you have any SQL problems you'd like to ask about from rounds 2-5?
Product Manager
Started with a recruiter chat to gauge my background, what I was looking for, and my availability. Then, a quick profile review with some basic and scenario questions. After that, I had an interview with a team member, which was really relaxed, more like a chat with some tech questions. The last interview was with leadership, covering my background, technical skills, career path, how I make roadmaps, and some tough questions. Got the offer and discussed details with the recruiter three days later.
- What are the challenges you've faced in the technical space?
- Describe the most difficult problem you've successfully solved.
- Can you explain your process for creating a product roadmap?
Director of Partnerships
I interviewed with Plate IQ in mid-2022 for a leadership position. I got through multiple rounds quickly due to my industry background. The last round was with the CEO, where I was given 5 days to prepare a 20-minute presentation on net new partnerships, execution strategy, and metrics. This presentation was supposed to be the main part of the CEO meeting. I put over 15 hours into creating and rehearsing the presentation. During the CEO call, I was asked basic background questions, likely for cultural fit. I brought up the presentation twice, but the CEO suggested reviewing it with the VP of Sales, whom I'd already met, leading me to expect another interview. Two days later, I got a generic rejection email, which was unexpected. When I inquired about not presenting, Plate IQ stated the CEO changed his mind during the meeting and offered no further explanation. This felt disrespectful of my time and showed poor communication.
- What companies would you consider for a partnership, and what's your reasoning?
