First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oshkosh Defense.
Engineer
Standard interview process with a phone screen with HR, then with the hiring manager and then a followup interview with team members. In the end I was offered a very uncompetitive salary for a different role than I applied for. The recruiter kept up the pressure until I just blocked the calls
- What is the minimum salary you would accept?
Design Engineer
I initially had a phone screen for a design engineer role. After not hearing back for a few weeks, I followed up. It was then decided I'd be a better fit for a senior engineer position. I was then called in for an in-person interview for this new senior engineer role. The email had two addresses, and I luckily picked the right one. The interview happened during lunch, with a panel of 5 people. Most seemed confused why I was referred for the senior role, and it was clear I wasn't a good fit within the first minute. The whole process took months from the phone screen to the in-person, and felt disorganized. I think the HR person on the phone screen could have done a better job matching candidates to roles. Because of this experience and the communication, I won't be applying to Oshkosh Defense again.
- Can you tell me about your presentation and customer communication skills?
- What makes you believe you're suitable for this role?
Design Engineer
It was tough getting an interview. Oshkosh wants people who really know their stuff and are inspired to work tirelessly for perfection. They want super high grades and lots of hands-on experience.
- Can you tell me about any internships or co-op experiences you have completed?
