First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Oscar Health.
Associate Product Manager
The interview process is pretty standard these days. You'll have a bunch of interviews covering both behavioral questions and product sense questions, specifically about healthcare insurance and your past experiences. Expect around 3 to 4 interviews in total.
- Can you share an instance of when you had to overcome a significant challenge?
- Describe a scenario where you had to make a tough product decision without all the data.
- Walk me through a product you brought to market and its results.
Technical Product Manager
I had a 30-minute intro call with the Technical Recruiter, then a 30-minute chat with someone on the PM team. The last round was spread over two days and involved four interviews: one with a PM from the team, the Hiring PM manager, the Engineering Lead, and the Technical Lead. It was a great experience overall, though it wasn't the perfect fit for that specific team. I didn't get an offer, but I have nothing but good things to say about the company. Maybe I'll work there someday.
- In what ways do you shield your engineers?
- What's your approach to prioritizing urgent projects with firm deadlines?
- How do you keep engineers motivated when they're dealing with repetitive tasks?
Product Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward. First, I had a call with a recruiter. Then, I had a round with a product manager where we worked on a case study. The final round had 6 interviews: 2 technical, 1 behavioral, and 3 product-focused. The interviewers felt very robotic, spending about 5 minutes explaining their roles and another 5 minutes asking about my background before diving into a 30-minute case study. The tech interviewers were a bit odd, asking really obscure questions related to data science and not providing clear examples or design specifics. It felt like a really competitive and intense company culture, lacking collaboration. After the final round, the recruiter left a voicemail saying they weren't moving forward with my application, with no specific feedback. When I called back, I just got an automated message saying they're proceeding with other candidates, which left a bad impression and made me feel the company culture is very cut-throat.
